Terms of Service
Effective July 10, 2026.
Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of HarborDNS. By creating an account, buying a plan, or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you use HarborDNS on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization, and "you" refers to that organization.
The service
HarborDNS provides managed authoritative DNS, zone and record management tools, API access where included in a plan, and related usage and billing features. HarborDNS operates from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and is offered globally through globally distributed infrastructure, subject to applicable law. DNS depends on factors outside our control — including domain delegation, registrars, resolver caches, networks, and third-party providers — and those factors can affect how and when your records resolve.
Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping credentials and API tokens secure; enable multi-factor authentication and scope tokens to the minimum they need. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the service.
Your domains and DNS data
You are responsible for ensuring you have the authority to manage every domain and DNS record you submit, and for the accuracy of that configuration. DNS changes can affect email, websites, and other services, so verify changes before altering production delegation and keep an independent copy of important configuration. You can export a zone file at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use HarborDNS to:
- violate any law or regulation, or infringe the rights of others;
- host or facilitate malware, phishing, fraud, or other malicious activity;
- manage domains or records you are not authorized to control;
- interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to bypass security or usage controls;
- generate abusive, deceptive, or unlawful DNS traffic, or use the service to attack others.
We may investigate suspected violations and may limit, suspend, or remove access or content when reasonably necessary to protect the service, our customers, or third parties.
Plans and capacity
Each plan includes a zone allowance and a record allowance, shown on the Pricing and Billing pages. We do not charge for query volume and do not suspend DNS because of it; we may contact you about unusually heavy traffic or a more suitable plan.
Fees, billing, and taxes
Plan prices and included capacity are shown on the Pricing and Billing pages. Checkout and subscription payments are processed through Stripe, and Stripe's terms also apply to the transaction. Fees are billed in advance for the interval you select and, unless stated otherwise, are exclusive of taxes, which you are responsible for where applicable. Subscriptions renew for the same interval until cancelled.
Money-back guarantee and cancellation
Every paid plan includes a 30-day money-back guarantee on its initial paid subscription. To request a refund within 30 days of your first payment, contact legal@harbordns.net. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals, and access continues through the end of the paid interval unless a refund applies.
Availability and support
We work to operate a reliable service, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Planned maintenance, security events, upstream failures, domain delegation issues, and events outside reasonable control can affect service. The support level and any specific service commitments depend on your plan or a separate written agreement.
Changes to the service
We may add, change, or discontinue features to improve the service or for operational, security, or legal reasons. If we make a material adverse change to a feature you rely on, we will make reasonable efforts to communicate it in advance.
Ownership
HarborDNS and its software, design, and documentation remain our property. Your DNS configuration and account data remain yours. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, and serve your configuration in order to provide the service.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using HarborDNS at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, security risk, or abusive use, and where practical we will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Before access ends, retrieve your zone data where reasonably possible; export is available in the panel and API.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by applicable law, HarborDNS is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties beyond those expressly stated in a written agreement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every requirement.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amounts you paid for the service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot be limited under applicable consumer-protection law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from third-party claims arising out of your DNS configuration, your use of the service in violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another party's rights, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules and subject to mandatory consumer-protection law that applies to you. The courts located in Quebec have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any non-waivable right you have to bring proceedings elsewhere.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date, and we will communicate material changes through the service or by email where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel your plan.
